Togal.AI is designed to handle the most common file formats used in the construction industry.
Primary Supported File Type:
PDF (.pdf): This is the most common and recommended format. Togal.AI is optimized for both vector-based and raster (image-based) PDFs.
Vector PDFs are ideal because they contain line data, which allows for crisp zooming and enables tools like “snap-to-corner” for precise takeoffs
Raster PDFs are essentially images of drawings. While fully supported, they may lose clarity when zoomed in, and snapping features will not be available
Other Supported File Types
CAD/DWG with a workaround*
Map Images*
Users can only cut their dwg into layouts that contain one plan (just as its exported in PDF)
You can upload images of maps not map files, users are encouraged to use the Map feature to do Map takeoff in the Drawing Editor dashboard
Other Supported Image Formats:
While PDF is preferred, you can also upload single-page drawings in the following image formats:
.PNG (.png)
.JPEG / .JPG (.jpeg, .jpg)
.TIFF (.tiff, .tif)
Unsupported File Types:
• CAD files (e.g., .DWG, .DXF) are not directly supported. You must first export them to PDF from your CAD software before uploading to Togal.AI
• Other document formats (e.g., .DOCX, .XLSX) are not supported for upload as drawings
For the best performance and access to all features, always try to use multi-page, vector-based PDF files
