The Library in Togal.AI is a central repository where you can store and manage your most commonly used takeoff items. It allows you to create a standardized, pre-built list of classifications and assemblies that can be quickly imported into any new project.
The Purpose of the Library
The primary goal of the Library is to promote consistency and efficiency.
Consistency: By using items from a master library, you ensure that everyone in your company is using the exact same naming conventions, properties, and formulas for common materials. A “Standard Interior Partition” is the same in every project.
Efficiency: Instead of re-creating your list of 50 common classifications from scratch for every new project, you can simply import them from your library in a few clicks. This saves a massive amount of setup time.
What Can Be Stored in the Library?
The Library is typically structured to hold several types of pre-built components:
Classifications: These are your basic building blocks in your takeoff. You can pre-define your standard classifications (e.g., “Carpet Tile CPT-1,” “Drywall 5/8” Type X,” “Concrete 4000 PSI Slab”) with their correct takeoff type, color, and folder structure.
Assemblies: These are more complex. An assembly is a collection of items and formulas that are linked together. For example, a “Drywall Partition Assembly” could be linked to a single linear takeoff but automatically calculate the quantities for studs, top/bottom track, drywall sheets, screws, and tape.
By building out a comprehensive Library, you are essentially creating a customized, digital version of your company’s estimating database directly within Togal.AI.
