After you’ve placed takeoffs on a drawing, you will often need to edit or adjust them.
Editing the Shape of a Takeoff
Select the Takeoff: Use the Select Tool (arrow) to click on the area or linear takeoff you want to modify.
Adjusting Vertices (Points): Once selected, the takeoff’s vertices (corner points) will become visible, usually as small circles.
Move a Vertex: Click and drag any existing vertex to a new position to change the shape.
Add a Vertex: Hover your cursor over a line segment between two vertices. A new point will appear in the middle of the segment. Click and drag this new point to add a vertex and refine the shape.
Delete a Vertex: Double click on a vertex to remove it from the takeoff.
Moving the Entire Takeoff:
Click and drag the selected shape (not on a vertex) to move the entire takeoff to a new location on the drawing.
Editing Takeoff Properties
When a takeoff is selected, its properties are highlighted on the Quantities Panel. Here you can:
Re-assign to a Classification: Re-assign the takeoff to a different classification by simply right clicking and selecting the desired classification in the list, or create and assign a new classification.
Edit Classification Properties: Right click the classification name on the Quantities Panel, you can edit the classification properties, which will apply to all the takeoffs in the same classification type. Here you can modify:
Name/Description: Rename the classification for better clarity in your reports.
Color/Appearance: Change the color, fill pattern, or line style of the classification to better organize your drawing visually.
Layer/Folder: Move the classification to a folder to better organize the classifications.
Editing Count Takeoffs
Move a Count: Click and drag an individual count symbol to a new position.
Delete a Count: Select a count symbol and press the Delete key.
Add More Counts: Simply select the same count classification again and continue clicking on the drawing to add more.
These editing capabilities ensure your takeoffs remain accurate even when plans change or mistakes are made.
