Duplicate and Assign a Classification

If you want to reuse the same takeoff polygons for multiple classifications, you can use Duplicate and then Create and Assign. This is useful when the geometry is the same, but you need separate quantities—such as using one area for Floor Finish and duplicating it for Ceiling Paint or Waterproofing.

How to duplicate and assign polygons:

  1. Select the classification
Click the classification you want to work from so you’re duplicating the correct takeoff shapes.

  2. Duplicate the polygons
In the Drawing Editor, right-click on the polygon(s) and select Duplicate.

    1. Togal creates a new layer directly on top of the original polygons.

    2. Only the duplicated layer remains selected.

  3. Assign the duplicated polygons to a new classification
Right-click the duplicated polygons again and choose Create and Assign.
Complete the classification setup, then save.

The duplicated polygons are now assigned to the new classification.

How to duplicate a classification in the Quantities Panel:

Use this when you want a quick copy of an existing classification’s settings (name, outputs, units, appearance), then adjust it.

  1. Right-click the classification in the Quantities Panel

  2. Select Duplicate

  3. Update the details of the duplicated classification in the popup window and click Save.
