Togal.AI leverages artificial intelligence to automate two of the most time-consuming takeoff tasks: measuring rooms (areas) and walls (linears).
This is done through the green Togal button, which runs automated takeoff and places the results on the drawing and in the Quantities Panel.
This automated takeoff feature gives you a fast starting point for takeoff—you can then review, reclassify, and edit as needed.
AI-Powered Area Detection
This feature automatically identifies and measures areas on a floor plan.
How it Works: The AI scans the drawing, recognizes the lines that form the boundaries of rooms.
Types of Generated Areas:
Footprint: The total square footage of the floor/ceiling footprint (e.g., the overall slab/plate area).
Net Area: The interior finish area of each room (usable room area, excluding wall areas).
Gross Area: The total “buildable” room area measured from wall centerline to wall centerline (includes wall zones within the room boundary).
Doors Area: The total square footage of door openings, typically calculated using door opening dimensions (commonly used to deduct openings from finishes).
Workflow:
Click the green Togal button on the top right corner of the Screen.
You can select to takeoff All Feature or Custom the specific areas you need.
With one click, the AI highlights the corresponding areas it has found and provides a list of the areas in the Quantities Panel.
AI-Powered Wall Detection
This feature automatically traces the walls, which gives you a starting point for wall length takeoff that you can then classify and refine.
How it Works: The AI is trained to recognize the parallel lines that represent walls on a floor plan. It then calculates the precise length of the traced lines.
Types of Generated Lines:
Wall Centerline: A linear takeoff of wall centerlines across the plan (useful for partition length and wall-based estimating).
Wall Perimeter: A linear takeoff tracing along wall faces/edges (commonly used for base, finish edges, or perimeter-related scope).
Doors Centerline: A linear takeoff of each door opening (useful for door opening length, and for calculating opening area when paired with door height).
Workflow:
Similar to the automated area takeoff, start by clicking the green Togal button .
You can select to takeoff All Feature or Custom the specific lines you need.
The AI draws linear takeoffs along the expected lines of every wall it finds on the plan.
You can then quickly review, delete any incorrect lines, connect any small gaps, and reclassify the lines to expected classifications.
