If you need door and window takeoff to include more than just a count—like opening area or opening perimeter/length—you can leverage Togal’s multiple output quantities. This allows one classification to report several quantities at once, so you can estimate items like glazing area, frame perimeter, trim length, or paint scope without creating separate takeoffs.
Door/Window Measurements from Count Classifications
You can use a Count classification to takeoff doors or windows, then add additional output quantities to calculate area and perimeter/length from each counted item.
Create count classification.
Create a Count classification and place takeoff items on each door/window. Alternatively, you can use the Image Search function to quickly find the count of doors/windows through door/window tags.
Enter item dimensions.
Input the door or window dimensions in the Create/Edit Count Classifications window. For example, for a 3x7 single flush door, input Height as 7 ft, Length as 3 ft.
Select output quantities.
Quantity 1: Count. Default quantity. Outputs the number of doors/windows.
Quantity 2: Vertical Area Length Side. Outputs the total opening area using Length x Height.
Quantity 3: Custom Formula, =Rectangle_Length_FT. Outputs the total length of the classification based on the rectangle length value.
Door Measurements from AI Generated Door Centerline
The Door Centerline feature is one of Togal’s AI-generated measurements that automatically traces door openings and reports their total linear footage. You can use it to quickly capture door openings, and then calculate related quantities like area using additional outputs.
Run the AI takeoff.
Choose the sheet you want, run Door Centerline. Togal will detect door openings and generate the takeoff automatically.Create and assign the classification.
Select the corresponding door centerline instances, right click and select “Create and Assign” to create a new classification for the specific type of door.Input classification details.
In the “Create Linear Classification” window, input the classification name, door height, and select output quantities.
Quantity 1: Length. Default quantity. Outputs the total length of door openings.
Quantity 2: Vertical Area 1 Side. Outputs the door opening area that is calculated as door height x door centerline length. This is useful for subtracting opening areas when estimating painting, drywall, or other finish work.
