Map Takeoff lets you perform takeoffs directly on a map instead of a plan sheet. It's useful for measuring roof areas, site plan layouts, existing conditions for demolition, or any scope where a real-world map view helps you see boundaries clearly and measure with better context.
To create a Map Takeoff
Open your project and click the Map button on the Project Menu.
In the popup window, enter a name for your map takeoff, then click Confirm.
A new map takeoff view appears in your project. Click it to open the Map Takeoff workspace.
Navigate to your site
The Map Takeoff workspace looks and works much like the Drawing Editor. To find the area you want to measure, you can:
Search for a specific address or location.
Pan, scroll, and zoom with your mouse until you're focused on the exact area you need.
Take measurements
You have the same tools you use on plan sheets to create classifications, take measurements, and edit polygons.
For example, to measure the area of a region:
Create an Area classification.
Draw a polygon around the region on the map.
View the resulting quantity in the Quantities Panel.
You can edit polygons at any time, just as you would in the Drawing Editor.
Note: Since Map Takeoff uses a built-in map scale, your measurements are automatically in real-world units. You don't need to set a scale or calibrate anything before you start measuring.
Switch to Satellite View
To see the site in real-world context, click Satellite in the bottom-left corner of the map. Satellite View makes it easier to identify physical features like rooflines, pavement, landscaping, and existing structures, which can help with scopes such as roofing, sitework, and demolition. Click it again to return to the standard map view.
Note: Map Takeoff is currently in beta. Some features available in the Drawing Editor (e.g., AI-assisted takeoff, search, markup tools) are not yet supported in this view.
