Remove User |
Action used to revoke a collaborator’s permissions and remove them from the project or drawing. This will delete their view and any work they did. |
Workflow Terms

Set or Verify Scale |
Step where the drawing scale is confirmed or manually set to ensure all measurements and quantities are accurate. |
Manual Takeoff |
Process of creating takeoffs by manually drawing areas, lines, or counts on the drawing without using AI detection. |
AI-Assisted Takeoff |
Process where Togal’s AI tools detect elements on a drawing and convert them into takeoffs that the user can review, adjust, and classify. |
Classification |
A measurement type applied to a takeoff that defines how Togal calculates quantities—by area, linear length, or count. |
Review Quantities |
Step where calculated totals are checked in the Quantity Panel to confirm accuracy before exporting or pricing. |
Export Quantities |
Action used to export takeoff data to Excel or PDF formats for estimating, reporting, or downstream workflows. |
AI Detection & Recognition
AI Detection |
Togal’s ability to automatically find elements on a drawing based on visual patterns, symbols, and layout. |
Detected Element |
Drawing items identified by the AI, such as rooms, walls, doors, windows, or other measurable features. |
Pattern Recognition |
Feature that finds repeated elements across a drawing or set of drawings after the user selects an example. |
Symbol Recognition |
AI detection of common construction symbols, such as doors, windows, or fixtures. |
Area Detection |
AI identification of enclosed spaces, typically used for rooms, slabs, or floor areas. |
Linear Detection |
AI identification of line-based elements, commonly used for walls or partitions. |
Count-Based Detection |
AI identification of repeating, discrete items—such as doors, windows, or fixtures—that are typically measured as counts. |
AI Search & Conversion Tools
AI Search |
Entry point for Togal’s AI tools that help find elements on a drawing and turn them into takeoffs. |
Text Search |
AI tool that finds elements associated with text or labels on the drawing, such as room names or tags. Can be applied to the entire drawing set. |
Image Search |
AI tool that finds elements based on visual appearance rather than text, useful when items are not clearly labeled. |
Pattern Search |
AI tool that finds repeated instances of an element after the user selects an example on the drawing. |
Convert to Takeoff |
Action that turns AI-detected elements into takeoffs that can be classified and measured. |
Bulk Conversion |
Converting multiple detected elements into takeoffs at the same time instead of one by one. |
Classification & AI Application
Classification |
A measurement type applied to a takeoff that defines how Togal calculates quantities—by area, linear length, or count. |
Area Classification |
Classification used for surfaces or enclosed spaces, such as rooms or slabs, measured in square units. |
Linear Classification |
Classification used for line-based elements, such as walls or partitions, measured in linear units.* |
Count Classification |
Classification used for individual items, such as doors, windows, or fixtures, measured as a total count. |
Apply Classification |
Action of assigning a classification to detected or manually drawn takeoffs so quantities can be calculated. |
Auto Classify |
Feature that automatically applies classifications to AI-detected elements when they are converted into takeoffs. |
Reclassify |
Changing the classification type of an existing takeoff without redrawing it. |
Classification Types
Classification Overview
Classification |
A measurement type applied to a takeoff that defines how Togal calculates quantities—by area, linear length, or count. |
Area Classification |
Classification type used to measure surfaces or enclosed spaces. Quantities are calculated based on the total area of the drawn shape. Typical uses: Rooms, floor areas, slabs, ceiling areas, and other surface-based elements. |
Linear Classification |
Classification type used to measure elements that follow a line or path. Quantities are calculated based on total length. Typical uses: Walls, partitions, curbs, and other linear construction elements. |
Count Classification |
Classification type used to measure individual, discrete items. Quantities are calculated as a total count.Typical uses: Doors, windows, fixtures, equipment, and similar items. |
Repeating Groups |
A classification type used to group multiple related classifications that repeat together across a drawing or project. Repeating Groups allow users to create a set of classifications once and reuse them for similar elements, helping keep quantities consistent and reducing repetitive setup. |
