How to share project Sets and collaborate with your colleagues

You'll notice a new Sharing icon on the Project > Set page. Clicking it will initiate sharing a Set with a colleague(s) in your organization.  The users you can find to share with are other licensed account-holders (users) in your own organization

Try out Togal's new collaboration feature, which lets you and one or more colleagues in your organization work together on the same set of drawings. When you share, Togal creates a "view" (or layer) for each participant on every drawing in the set. Each participant can focus on their own work, but also benefit from seeing the work of their colleagues. When you, the owner of a set, decide to share it, you can control what each participant can do, with 3 options for setting permissions:

  • "Can Manage" -- Can edit own view, plus all other views, and manage users, just like you
  • "Can Edit" -- Can edit own view, and see other views (but not edit them).
  • "Can View" -- Can see all views but not edit them.

Participants can copy and paste (Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V) from another colleague's view into their own view. Pasting is done "in place," i.e. into the same coordinate space as the original. For example, one participant could do the Togaling, and other participants could copy and paste whatever areas, lines and counts they need. Togaling could also be done on each view, but be aware you might be creating redundancy you don't need or expect.

We've released Sharing as a beta (trial mode) in order to get feedback and make sure we got it right. We suggest you test it with a colleague first before you fully commit to collaborating on an actual project.

Note: Togal has always had two kinds of users: regular Users and Admins. Since Admins already have some special powers (they can see and enter all projects), the collaboration feature ensures they still have the ability to add themselves as a participant, even if they're not the owner of the project. They also can only be set at the "Can Manage" level.

Please refer to the video guide of the collaboration feature explanation:
