Area Classifications: how to create, draw & edit

To create a new area classification:

  1. Open the Quantities panel.
  2. Click the "+" symbol in the menu on the right, next to the search bar.
  3. Select "Create Area Classification".
  4. This will open the editor, where you can:
    1. Name your classification.
    2. Assign a color and shape for your classification.
    3. Set up multiple output data quantities for conditions like Perimeter, Volume and Tile Count.
  5. After making your selections, click "Save". Your new area classification is now ready for use.

To edit an existing area classification:

  • Right-click on the classification you want to modify.
  • From the menu that appears, select "Edit". This will take you to the editor to update the classification.

 

Classification properties for area classifications:

Slope

You can specify height and slope. Slope is used for area calculations only, not for volume or perimeter. 

Tile Count

To use the tile count feature, check the "Tile Grid" checkbox at the bottom of the menu and enter your tile sizes.

Tile quantities are calculated using an average tile formula.

Average grid area is calculated:
   Square feet = ((entry 1 + gap) x (entry 2 + gap)) / 144

Tile count is based on the average:
   round up (polygon area / avg grid area)
