Release Notes | v. 3.1.1 | November 12 2025

Released November 12, 2025

What's New

Release 3.1.1 introduces Repeating Groups, a powerful new feature designed to dramatically accelerate takeoff for projects with identical or recurring spaces. This release also adds Classification Notes for providing additional information and context to your classifications.

Key highlights:

  • Repeating Groups: Perform takeoff once on a master unit, apply to hundreds of identical spaces instantly
  • Classification Notes: Add notes to classifications
  • Unit Cost in Custom Formulas: Enhanced estimation capabilities with unit cost parameters
  • Other Improvements: Multiple bug fixes for improved reliability and user experience

New Features

Repeating Groups

Repeating Groups dramatically speed up the takeoff process for projects with identical or recurring rooms and spaces, such as hotels, apartments, and hospitals. Instead of measuring each identical room individually, perform a detailed takeoff on a single 'master' unit and apply all measurements to similar units with just a few clicks.

Key capabilities:

  • Takeoff Once, Apply Everywhere: Create a master takeoff for one unit and apply it to hundreds of others, saving hours of repetitive work
  • Centralized Updates: Edit the original master takeoff and all instances update automatically, ensuring project-wide consistency
  • Cross-Sheet Functionality: Create detailed master takeoffs on enlarged unit plans and apply them to smaller units on main floor plans
  • Automatic Quantity Aggregation: The system automatically calculates and aggregates total quantities for every material across all counted instances
  • Flexible Placement: Flip, rotate, and scale instances as needed to match your plans
  • Export Integration: Group by Repeating Groups in Export view for easier organization and analysis

The feature acts as a template—simply count the number of times a room appears, and the system multiplies the quantities from your master takeoff by the number of instances, providing accurate totals for all materials across all recurring units.

Classification Notes

You can now add detailed notes to classifications in the Classification Properties modal.

notes in classifications

Coming soon: In Excel Export, notes will be (1) displayed as hover tooltips when you move your cursor over the classification, (2) included as a column display option in the onscreen grid view,  and (3) included as an optional column in Excel exports.

Unit Cost Support in Custom Formulas

Unit Cost is now available as a parameter in custom formulas, enabling calculations like = area * unit cost or = length * unit cost. This provides more flexibility in creating cost-related calculations directly within Togal.

Improvements

Folder Unassignment Option

Added a "None" option to the folder selection dropdown in classification modals, allowing users to explicitly unassign classifications from folders.

Black Color Option in Compare Mode

Black is now available as a color option in the Compare feature.

Rotation Support in PDF Snapshot Exports

PDF snapshot exports now properly reflect drawing rotation, ensuring exported images match the on-screen orientation.

Bug Fixes

Fixed Search Panel Display Issues

Removed incorrect empty state UI and buttons that appeared in the Search panel and fixed similar issue with quantity panel filtering.

Fixed Missing Pages When Adding Multiple Folders

Fixed high-priority issue where adding two or more folders to a set would cause pages to disappear due to sorting function returning empty results.

Fixed "Last Edited" Sorting on Sets Page

The "Last Edited" sort option on the Sets page now properly reacts to changes made on drawings and sorts them accordingly for both Ascending and Descending order.

Resolved Blank Screen Issue

Fixed Visual Glitch in View Switcher

Resolved visual issue where a double-frame would appear on the List/Grid View switcher after setting sorting options.

Improved Drawing Name Save Feedback

Fixed issue where the Confirm button remained active after saving a drawing name while the modal was closing, eliminating visual confusion.
