The "Smart Paste" feature, activated with the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V (or Cmd + Shift + V on Mac), allows you to replicate an object at a consistent distance and alignment, which can save time and maintain uniformity across your design. This technique is ideal when working with elements like windows, lighting fixtures, or any repeated objects.
How to use smart paste:
-
Select the object you want to replicate (e.g., a window or a lighting fixture) and use Ctrl + C to copy it.
-
With your object copied, use Ctrl + Shift + V to paste it. Position this first paste at the desired distance from the original.
-
After the first paste, each subsequent press of Ctrl + Shift + V will paste a new copy of the object at the same distance as the previous paste. This automatically sets and replicates the spacing.
Note: Copy multiple items at once and smart paste together for sets of repeating items, such as windows for every floor on an elevation drawing.
